മലയാള സാഹിത്യത്തിലും പത്രപ്രവർത്തന ചരിത്രത്തിലും തനതായ വ്യക്തിമുദ്ര പതിപ്പിച്ച പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണമാണ് അരുണോദയം മാസിക. 1927 ജൂണിൽ ഒറ്റപ്പാലത്തുനിന്നാണ് ഈ സാഹിത്യ മാസികയുടെ പ്രയാണം ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത്. പ്രമുഖ വ്യക്തിത്വമായിരുന്ന വേലൂർ ശങ്കരൻനായരുടെ ഷഷ്ടിപൂർത്തി സ്മാരകമായി അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻ്റെ മകൻ പി. നാരായണൻനായരാണ് മാസികയ്ക്ക് തുടക്കമിട്ടത്. പ്രശസ്ത സാഹിത്യകാരന്മാരായ ചേലനാട്ട് അച്യുതമേനോൻ, വിദ്വാൻ സി.എസ്. നായർ എന്നിവരായിരുന്നു ഇതിൻ്റെ പത്രാധിപന്മാർ. മഹാകവി പി. കുഞ്ഞിരാമൻനായർ എഴുതിയ അരുണോദയം എന്ന കവിതയോടെ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ ആദ്യലക്കം തന്നെ മലയാള സാഹിത്യലോകത്ത് വലിയ ശ്രദ്ധനേടി.
സാധാരണയായി പത്ത് ഗദ്യലേഖനങ്ങൾ, ആറു പദ്യകൃതികൾ, രണ്ട് കഥകൾ എന്നിവയായിരുന്നു ഒരു ലക്കത്തിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിരുന്നത്. ഇതുകൂടാതെ വായനക്കാർക്കായി ചില സ്ഥിര പംക്തികളും മാസികയിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. വള്ളത്തോൾ നാരായണമേനോൻ, ഉള്ളൂർ എസ്. പരമേശ്വരയ്യർ, ആറ്റൂർ കൃഷ്ണപിഷാരോടി, പുന്നശ്ശേരി നീലകണ്ഠശർമ്മ, എ. നാരായണപ്പൊതുവാൾ തുടങ്ങിയ അക്കാലത്തെ പ്രഗത്ഭരായ സാഹിത്യനായകരുടെ കവിതകളും പഠനങ്ങളും ലേഖനങ്ങളും കൊണ്ട് അരുണോദയം സമ്പന്നമായിരുന്നു. കേവലം കഥകൾക്കും കവിതകൾക്കുമപ്പുറം ഭാഷാശാസ്ത്രം, സംസ്കൃത ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങളുടെ പുനരാഖ്യാനം, ചരിത്രപഠനങ്ങൾ, പുസ്തക നിരൂപണങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയ്ക്കെല്ലാം മാസിക വലിയ പ്രാധാന്യം നൽകി.

This volume serves as the official statistical dataset of the 1911 Census conducted in the princely state of Travancore under the British Indian Imperial framework.

Out of 35 total village surveys taken up across Kerala, this part presents the deep-dive monographs of four specific centres chosen for their distinct socioeconomic and ecological characteristics:
