The college as such was formally established by around 1875. Over the years, it has grown both in academic profile and infrastructure; most recently, it marked a 150th anniversary of its inception. It is a government college, currently functioning with autonomous status. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious colleges in the state of Kerala, with a long tradition of academic excellence, cultural contributions, and alumni influence.
The articles covered different topics like College Notes, literary articles written by students and staff, Election results of various college associations etc.

1937 – വേണാടിൻ്റെ വീരചരിതം – മഹാദേവദേശായ്

1937-ൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച, മഹാദേവദേശായ് എഴുതിയ വേണാടിൻ്റെ വീരചരിതം എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തിൻ്റെ ഡിജിറ്റൽ സ്കാൻ ആണ് ഈ പോസ്റ്റിലൂടെ പങ്കു വെക്കുന്നത്. മലയാളത്തിലേയ്ക്ക് വിവർത്തനം ചൈയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത് സി. നാരായണപിള്ള,കെ. പി. ശങ്കരമേനോൻ എന്നിവരാണ് .

“വേണാടിൻ്റെ വീരചരിതം” എന്ന പുസ്തകം 1937-ൽ മഹാദേവ് ദേശായി രചിച്ച വേണാട് രാഷ്ട്രീയ ചരിത്രത്തെ കേന്ദ്രീകരിച്ച് ഗാന്ധിയൻ പ്രസ്ഥാനങ്ങളുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട ഒരു രേഖയാണ്. ഇന്ത്യൻ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ സമരത്തിൽ സജീവ പങ്കാളിയും സാഹിത്യകാരനുമായ മഹാദേവ് ദേശായി മഹാത്മാ ഗാന്ധിയുടെ സന്തത സഹചാരിയും വ്യക്തിഗത സെക്രട്ടറിയുമായിരുന്നു. ഗാന്ധിജിയുടെ കേരള സന്ദർശനം, പ്രസംഗങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ അദ്ദേഹം രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിരുന്നു. ഈ പുസ്തകം ക്ഷേത്രപ്രവേശന വിളംബരം, ഗാന്ധിജിയുടെ കേരള സന്ദർശനം, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രസംഗങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയും ചേർത്ത് കേരളത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടായ രാഷ്ട്രീയ ഉണർവിനെ വിവരിക്കുന്നു .

ഒന്നാംഭാഗത്ത് തിരുവിതാംകൂറിലെ അയിത്താചാര നിർമാർജ്ജന ശ്രമങ്ങൾ എഴു അധ്യായങ്ങളിൽ കൂടി വിവരിക്കുന്നു; രണ്ടാംഭാഗം ഗാന്ധിജിയുടെ 1932 മുതൽ 35 വരെയുള്ള പ്രസംഗങ്ങൾ, ഹരിജൻ സഞ്ചാരം, തിരുവിതാംകൂർ തീർത്ഥാടനത്തിലെ 27 പ്രസംഗങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയും ഉൾക്കൊള്ളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.ഗാന്ധിജി തിരുവിതാംകൂർ വിളംബരത്തെ തന്റെ പ്രാർത്ഥനയുടെ മറുപടിയായി കാണുന്നു. 1937-ലെ ജനുവരി തീർത്ഥാടനം പ്രാർത്ഥനകളാൽ നിറഞ്ഞതായിരുന്നു. മതസ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിനായുള്ള അക്രമരഹിത സമരത്തിൻ്റെ സംക്ഷിപ്ത ചരിത്രം പറയുന്നു ഈ പുസ്തകം.

1961-ൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച, കാളിദാസൻ എഴുതിയ ഋതു സംഹാരം എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തിൻ്റെ ഡിജിറ്റൽ സ്കാൻ ആണ് ഈ പോസ്റ്റിലൂടെ പങ്കു വെക്കുന്നത്. മലയാളത്തിലേയ്ക്ക് വിവർത്തനം ചൈയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത് മാവേലിക്കര അച്യുതനാണ്.

1959-Binodini

Through this post, we are releasing the digital scan of Binodini written by famous writer Sri. Rabindranath Tagore published in the year 1959.

The 1959 book “Binodini” refers to the English translation of Rabindranath Tagore‘s classic bengali novel Chocker bali, first published in 1902-03, with the 1959 edition being a significant publication by Sahithya Accademy translated by Krishna Kripalini exploring themes of widowhood, forbidden love, societal constraints, and female agency in 19th-century Bengal through the complex character of Binodini.

This English translation was a significant event, introducing Tagore’s groundbreaking work on female psychology and societal critique to non-Bengali readers, cementing its place in Indian literature.
