The “Code of Procedure” for the 1921 Travancore Census, an internal manual issued under Census Commissioner Murari S. Krishnamurthi Ayyar. Part I: Enumeration, covering administrative divisions (Charges, Circles, Blocks), house numbering with tar or ochre paint, preliminary house visits in February, and final synchronous counting on census night (7 PM–midnight), including updates for births, deaths, or migrations.It included caste/race (e.g., Nairs, Ezhavas, Syrian Christians), religion sects, and literacy (ability to write/read a letter). In historical context, the census captured Travancore’s population growth despite the 1918 Spanish Flu, amid Kerala’s social reforms and high literacy rates (especially among women), making caste and literacy instructions politically sensitive.

1924 – ൽ ശ്രീമൂലം മലയാളം സീരീസ് പുസ്തകങ്ങളുടെ ഭാഗമായി രണ്ടാമതായി പ്രസിദ്ധപ്പെടുത്തിയ ശതമുഖ രാമായണം കിളിപ്പാട്ട് എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തിൻ്റെ ഡിജിറ്റൽ സ്കാൻ ആണ് ഈ പോസ്റ്റിലൂടെ പങ്കു വെക്കുന്നത്.

ഭാഷാ കവിചക്രവർത്തിയായ തുഞ്ചത്ത് എഴുത്തച്ഛൻ്റെ കൃതിയായി “ശതമുഖരാമായണം കിളിപ്പാട്ട്” എന്നൊരു ഗ്രന്ഥമുണ്ടെന്ന് ഗോവിന്ദപ്പിള്ള സർവാധികാര്യക്കാരവർകളുടെ ‘ഭാഷാചരിത്ര’ത്തിലൂടെയും മറ്റും ഭാഷാപ്രേമികൾ മനസ്സിലാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. എന്നാൽ ഈ ഗ്രന്ഥം ഇതുവരെ സമ്പൂർണ്ണമായി അച്ചടിക്കപ്പെട്ടതായി അറിവില്ല. ഇതിൻ്റെ മൂന്നാം പാദത്തിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ഒരു ഭാഗം ‘പദ്യമഞ്ജരി’യിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിരുന്നു, ആ ഭാഗം മാത്രമേ ഇതുവരെ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളു.

“സീതാവിജയം” എന്ന പേരിൽ  അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ കൃതി ആദ്യന്തം വായിക്കുന്ന സഹൃദയർക്ക്, ഇത് സാക്ഷാൽ എഴുത്തച്ഛൻ്റെ തന്നെ രചനയാണെന്ന കാര്യത്തിൽ സംശയമുണ്ടാകില്ല. അധ്യാത്മരാമായണം കിളിപ്പാട്ടും ഈ ഗ്രന്ഥവും തമ്മിലുള്ള സാദൃശ്യം അത്രമേൽ വ്യക്തമാണ്. അധ്യാത്മരാമായണം രചിച്ച് അധികകാലം കഴിയുന്നതിനു മുൻപ് തന്നെ ഈ ലഘുകൃതിയും നിർമ്മിക്കപ്പെട്ടതാണെന്ന് അനുമാനിക്കുന്നു. പ്രധാന ഇതിവൃത്തം സീതാദേവി ശതമുഖ രാവണനെ (നൂറു തലയുള്ള രാവണൻ) വധിക്കുന്നതാണ്.​ രാമന് പത്തു തലയുള്ള രാവണനെ മാത്രമേ വധിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞുള്ളൂ എന്നും, എന്നാൽ അതിനേക്കാൾ ശക്തനായ നൂറു തലയുള്ള രാവണനെ വധിക്കാൻ സീത ഭദ്രകാളി രൂപം ധരിച്ച് യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നും ഇതിൽ വിവരിക്കുന്നു. ഇത് വാല്മീകി രാമായണത്തിലോ അദ്ധ്യാത്മ രാമായണത്തിലോ കാണുന്ന കഥയല്ല. മറിച്ച് അത്ഭുത രാമായണം ശാക്തേയ പാരമ്പര്യങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയെ ആസ്പദമാക്കിയുള്ള കഥയാണ്. ഗ്രന്ഥത്തിൽ കാണുന്ന “ഉന്നതമുള്ളവൻ”, “മഹൽകാലകേയന്മാർ” ,”അവാങ് മനോഗോചരം” തുടങ്ങിയ വ്യാകരണപരമായി പൂർണ്ണതയില്ലാത്ത പ്രയോഗങ്ങൾ, തനിമയുള്ള ഭാഷാശൈലിയെ നിലനിർത്താൻ കവി ബോധപൂർവ്വം ഉപയോഗിച്ചതാണെന്ന് കരുതുന്നു. കാളിദാസനെപ്പോലുള്ള മഹാകവികളുടെ രചനകളിലും ഇത്തരം സവിശേഷ പ്രയോഗങ്ങൾ കാണാറുണ്ട്.

ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിൻ്റെ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണത്തിനായി പണ്ഡിതൻ വടക്കുംകൂർ രാജരാജവർമ്മ വഴി ശങ്കരൻ നമ്പൂതിരിയുടെ പക്കൽ നിന്ന് ലഭിച്ച ഒരു താളിയോല ഗ്രന്ഥവും, കൊട്ടാരം ഗ്രന്ഥപ്പുരയിൽ നിന്ന് ലഭിച്ച മറ്റൊന്നും പരിശോധിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി. രണ്ട് പ്രതികളിലും പാഠഭേദങ്ങളും അബദ്ധങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതിനാൽ, അവ സൂക്ഷ്മമായി ഒത്തുനോക്കി ശുദ്ധമെന്ന് ബോധ്യപ്പെട്ട പാഠമാണ് ശ്രീമൂലം മലയാളം സീരീസ് പുസ്തകങ്ങളുടെ ഭാഗമായി ഇപ്പോൾ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്നത്.

1879-ൽ ലണ്ടനിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച, സർ എഡ്വിൻ ആർനോൾഡിൻ്റെ The Light of Asia എന്ന കൃതിക്ക് നാലപ്പാട്ട് നാരായണ മേനോൻ തയ്യാറാക്കിയ പരിഭാഷയാണ് ‘പൗരസ്ത്യദീപം’. വള്ളത്തോൾ നാരായണമേനോന് ആണ് ഈ പുസ്തകം സമർപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. പലപ്പോഴും ബ്രാഹ്മണ പണ്ഡിതന്മാരും ക്രിസ്ത്യൻ പാതിരിമാരും വ്യാഖ്യാനിച്ച് വികലമാക്കിയ തഥാഗതൻ്റെ ധർമ്മോപദേശങ്ങളെ ശരിയായ രീതിയിൽ പാശ്ചാത്യലോകത്തിനു കാണിച്ചു കൊടുക്കാനാണ് എഡ്വിൻ ആർനോൾഡ് ശ്രമിക്കുന്നതെന്ന് ആമുഖത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു. മികച്ച മലയാള പരിഭാഷയിലൂടെ ബുദ്ധൻ്റെ സ്വന്തം നാട്ടിലെ സാധാരണ ജനസമൂഹത്തിന് ബൗദ്ധാശയങ്ങളെ ലളിതമായും സമഗ്രമായും പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തുക എന്ന ദൗത്യമാണ് നാലപ്പാട്ട് നാരായണമേനോൻ മുതിരുന്നത് എന്നും അദ്ദേഹം കൂട്ടിച്ചേർക്കുന്നു

Ernakulam Maharaja’s College traces its roots back to a school founded in the mid-19th century which over time evolved in structure and status toward a college. The college as such was formally established by around 1875. Over the years, it has grown both in academic profile and infrastructure; most recently, it marked a 150th anniversary of its inception. It is a government college, currently functioning with autonomous status. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious colleges in the state of Kerala, with a long tradition of academic excellence, cultural contributions, and alumni influence.
