കേരള സംസ്ഥാന വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ വകുപ്പ് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച ശാസ്ത്രഗ്രന്ഥാവലി സീരീസിലെ ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ മരപ്പണിക്കും ലോഹപ്പണിക്കും വേണ്ട ഉപകരണങ്ങൾ, അളവിൻ്റെ ഉപകരണങ്ങൾ, മുറിക്കുവാനുള്ള ഉപകരണങ്ങൾ, ചാലനത്തിനും ദ്വാരമുണ്ടാക്കുവാനും ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന ഉപകരണങ്ങൾ, ഉപകരണങ്ങൾ സൂക്ഷിക്കേണ്ട വിധം തുടങ്ങിയ കാര്യങ്ങളാണ് ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നത്.

കേരള സംസ്ഥാന വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ വകുപ്പിൻ്റെ ഗൈഡൻസ് വിഭാഗം പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ നാല് അദ്ധ്യായങ്ങളാണുള്ളത്. ഒന്നാം അദ്ധ്യായത്തിൽ വസ്തുക്കളെ കാണുന്ന വിധം, ശ്രവണം, പ്രതിധ്വനിയിൽ കൂടി കാണുന്ന ചില ജീവികൾ എന്നീ വിഷയങ്ങൾ ചർച്ച ചെയ്യുന്നു. രണ്ടാം അദ്ധ്യായത്തിൽ പ്രതിധ്വനി, പ്രതിധ്വനിയുടെ ഭാഷ എന്നീ വിഷയങ്ങളും, മൂന്നാം അദ്ധ്യായത്തിൽ സോണാർ, സൈസ്മോഗ്രാഫ്, റഡാർ എന്നീ വിഷയങ്ങളും, നാലാം അദ്ധ്യായത്തിൽ പ്രതിധ്വനി അന്ധരിൽ എന്നീ വിഷയവും കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

ബംഗാളി സാഹിത്യകാരി നിരുപമാദേവി എഴുതിയ “അന്നപൂർണ്ണാ മന്ദിര” എന്ന നോവലിൻ്റെ വിവർത്തനമാണ് ഈ പുസ്തകം. സാമൂഹിക-സംസ്കാരിക പശ്ചാത്തലത്തിൽ സ്ത്രീ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം, ദാരിദ്ര്യം, അന്നദാനധർമ്മം, കരുണ, പാരമ്പര്യം തുടങ്ങിയ വിഷയങ്ങളെ ആസ്പദമാക്കുന്ന രചനയായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
