1917-ൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച, കുന്നത്ത് ജനാർദ്ദനമേനോൻ എഴുതിയ ലോകമഹായുദ്ധം ഒന്നാം ഭാഗം എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തിൻ്റെ ഡിജിറ്റൽ സ്കാൻ ആണ് ഈ പോസ്റ്റിലൂടെ പങ്കു വെക്കുന്നത്1917 – ലോകമഹായുദ്ധം ഒന്നാം ഭാഗം

1914-ലാണ് ഒന്നാം ലോകമഹായുദ്ധം തുടങ്ങുന്നത്. യുദ്ധം തുടങ്ങി, അധികം വൈകാതെ തന്നെ വിവിധ ഭാഷകളിൽ യുദ്ധത്തെ സംബന്ധിച്ചുള്ള പുസ്തകങ്ങൾ എഴുതപ്പെട്ടു. യുദ്ധത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള വിവരങ്ങൾ അറിയുവാനായി ജനങ്ങൾ പത്രങ്ങളെ ആശ്രയിച്ചു എങ്കിലും കൂടുതൽ സമഗ്രമായി വിവരങ്ങൾ വായനക്കാരിലേക്കെത്തിക്കുക എന്ന ഉദ്ദേശത്തോടെ രചിക്കപ്പെട്ടതാണ് ഈ പുസ്തകം. രണ്ടു ഭാഗങ്ങളായി രചിക്കപ്പെട്ടതിൻ്റെ ഒന്നാം ഭാഗത്തിൽ, പുസ്തകത്തെ മൂന്നു ഖണ്ഡങ്ങളായാണ് തിരിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്. 1786-ൽ നടന്ന ഫ്രാൻസിലെ മഹാവിപ്ലവം മുതൽ പതിനെട്ടാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിൽ യൂറോപ്പിൽ നടന്ന വിവിധങ്ങളായ പ്രതിസന്ധികളും ഭരണഘടനാപരമായ മാറ്റങ്ങളും വിലയിരുത്തുന്നു. അന്യരാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നു വിവരങ്ങൾ ചോർത്തിയെടുക്കുന്നതിനായി ഓരോ രാജ്യങ്ങളും ചാരവൃത്തിക്കായി ആളുകളെ ഏർപ്പെടുത്തിയതും വിമാനത്തിൻ്റെയും ടെലഫോണിൻ്റെയും കണ്ടുപിടിത്തത്തെക്കുറിച്ചും പുസ്തകത്തിൽ വായിക്കാം

1914 ൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച, മൂർക്കോത്തു കുമാരൻ രചിച്ച വസുമതി എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തിൻ്റെ സ്കാൻ ആണ് ഈ പോസ്റ്റിലൂടെ പങ്കു വെക്കുന്നത്.

വടക്കൻ മലബാറിലെ സാമൂഹിക ആചാരങ്ങളെ – പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് ബഹുഭാര്യത്വം, മാതൃവംശ പാരമ്പര്യ (മരുമക്കത്തായം) സമ്പ്രദായം എന്നിവയെ – വിമർശിച്ചതിന് പേരുകേട്ട മൂർക്കോത്ത് കുമാരൻ്റെ ആദ്യകാല മലയാള നോവലാണ് ‘വസുമതി’ (1914). തിയ്യ സമൂഹത്തിൽ നിലനിൽക്കുന്ന സാമൂഹിക ജീവിതത്തെയും പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങളെയും ഈ കഥ വ്യക്തമായി ചിത്രീകരിക്കുന്നു, ഇത് കുമാരൻ്റെ പരിഷ്കരണവാദ വീക്ഷണത്തെയും കേരള സമൂഹത്തിലെ സ്ത്രീകളുടെ മാറിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന വേഷങ്ങളിലും അവകാശങ്ങളിലും ശ്രദ്ധ ചെലുത്തുന്നതിനെയും പ്രതിഫലിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

മാതൃവംശ പാരമ്പര്യത്തിൽ നിന്നും പരമ്പരാഗത വിവാഹ ആചാരങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും ഉയർന്നുവരുന്ന പരസ്പര പിരിമുറുക്കങ്ങൾ പര്യവേക്ഷണം ചെയ്യാൻ കുമാരൻ വസുമതി, ദാമോദരൻ തുടങ്ങിയ കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളെ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു. അധികാരം, കുടുംബ വിഘടനം, കർക്കശമായ ആചാരങ്ങളുടെ വൈകാരിക പ്രത്യാഘാതങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ആശങ്കകൾ സംഭാഷണങ്ങൾ എടുത്തുകാണിക്കുന്നു. ഒരു കേന്ദ്ര കഥാപാത്രമെന്ന നിലയിൽ വസുമതി, അനാവശ്യമായ ഭയങ്ങൾക്കും സാമൂഹിക വിലക്കുകൾക്കുമെതിരായ ചോദ്യം ചെയ്യലിൻ്റെയും ഏറ്റുമുട്ടലിൻ്റെയും ശബ്ദത്തെ പ്രതിനിധീകരിക്കുന്നു.

ശ്രീ നാരായണ ഗുരുവിൻ്റെ ശിഷ്യനായ മൂർക്കോത്ത് കുമാരൻ ഒരു നോവലിസ്റ്റ് മാത്രമല്ല, ഒരു മുൻനിര പത്രപ്രവർത്തകനും ചെറുകഥാകൃത്തും സാമൂഹിക പരിഷ്കർത്താവും കൂടിയായിരുന്നു. ‘വസുമതി’ ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻ്റെ കൃതികൾ സാമൂഹിക പുരോഗതിക്കായി നിരന്തരം വാദിക്കുകയും, പിന്തിരിപ്പൻ രീതികളെ വിമർശിക്കുകയും, മലയാള സാഹിത്യത്തിന് ആധുനികവും എളുപ്പത്തിൽ ഉപയോഗപ്രദവുമാകുന്ന ഒരു ശൈലി കൊണ്ടുവരികയും ചെയ്തു.

1929 ൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച, എം.കെ. ശങ്കരപ്പിള്ള രചിച്ച ശ്രീ ശുകൻ എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തിൻ്റെ സ്കാൻ ആണ് ഈ പോസ്റ്റിലൂടെ പങ്കു വെക്കുന്നത്.

വൈദികമതത്തിൻ്റെ രഹസ്യങ്ങളെ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുള്ള പരിപൂണ്ണന്മാരായ മഹർഷീശ്വരന്മാരാണ് ഭാരതത്തിൻ്റെ ഉൽകർഷത്തിനു ഹേതുവായിട്ടുള്ളവർ. ജീവിതത്തിൻ്റെയും, ആത്മാവിൻ്റെയും രഹസ്യങ്ങളെയും, മനുഷ്യജീവിതം കൊണ്ടു പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതായ പരമപദത്തേയും മനസ്സിലാക്കി സ്വയം അവിടെ എത്തിയശേഷം ഭൂതദയാപ്രേരിതരായിട്ടു,  മറ്റുള്ളവർക്കും ആ വഴി കാണിച്ചു കൊടുക്കാനായി ശരീരധാരണം ചെയ്തുവന്ന ആ പുണ്യപുരുഷന്മാരാണ് ഭാരതത്തിൻ്റെ ശാശ്വതവിജയസ്തംഭങ്ങൾ. ഇവർ ശരീരാഭിമാനരഹിതമായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു തങ്ങളുടെ ജനനകാലം, പ്രവൃത്തികൾ മുതലായവയെ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തി വെച്ചിട്ടില്ല.

This publication is an official government record published by the erstwhile State of Cochin detailing the stucture and personnel of its civil administration as of 1st Chingam 1114 in the Malayalam Era(August 1938). It records details such as names of government officials, their designations, departments, possibly their salaries and appointments. It also contains lists of land revenue, law, police, education, public works and health. The Civil List served as a comprehensive reference for the organization and functioning of the Cochin State Government during the late pre-independence period

The document is historically valuable because it gives a snapshot of the administrative machinery of the Cochin state at that time, who held what office, how the bureaucracy was organised, how the state was being managed under the princely arrangement.

Sri Krishnananda Sarasvati is a noted scholar and Advaita Vedanta philosopher. His philosophical work ‘The Siddhantasiddhanjana’ primarily aims to establish and defend the principles of Advaita Vedanta particularly as systematized by Adi Sankaracharya, against the objections raised by other philosophical schools such as Dvaita and Visistadvaita. The work stands as a shining example of post-Sankara Advaita literature, preserving the purity of the non-dual vision while engaging critically with alternative viewpoints.
