Through this post, we are releasing the digital scan of St. Thomas College Trichur Magazine published in the year 1936

St. Thomas’ College, Thrissur is one of Kerala’s oldest and most prestigious institutions. Founded in 1889 by Rt. Rev. Adolphus E. Medlycott, it started as a school and became a Second Grade College in 1918, later upgrading to First Grade in 1925. It holds the distinction of being Kerala’s first Catholic college, run by the Syro-Malabar Catholic Archdiocese of Thrissur, and is affiliated with the University of Calicut.

The Magazine in published twice in a year. In this September issue, the contents are Articles in different topics and literary articles written by eminent writers and students in English and Malayalam languages.

1924- ൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച, ചിറ്റൂർ വരവൂർ ശാമമേനോൻ പരിഭാഷപ്പെടുത്തിയ ജ്ഞാനവാസിഷ്ഠം – കേരള ഭാഷാഗാനം എന്ന കൃതിയുടെ സ്കാൻ ആണ് ഈ പോസ്റ്റിലൂടെ പങ്കു വെക്കുന്നത്.

സംസ്കൃത വേദാന്തഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങളുടെ മലയാളപരിഭാഷകൻ എന്ന നിലയിൽ പ്രശസ്തനായ ചിറ്റൂർ വരവൂർ ശാമമേനോൻ പരിഭാഷപ്പെടുത്തിയ “ജ്ഞാനവാസിഷ്ഠം” എന്ന കൃതി യോഗവാസിഷ്ഠം എന്ന സംസ്കൃത മഹാഗ്രന്ഥത്തിന്റെ ചുരുക്കാവിഷ്കാരമാണ്. 1920കളിൽ കേരളത്തിൽ വേദാന്തചിന്തയുടെ ജനപ്രിയാവിഷ്കാരത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായിട്ടാണ് ഈ കൃതി പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചത്. വാസിഷ്ഠ മഹർഷിയുടെയും ശ്രീരാമന്റെയും ആത്മജ്ഞാനസംവാദമാണ് പുസ്തകത്തിൻ്റെ ഉള്ളടക്കം.

മുമുക്ഷുപ്രകരണം – മോക്ഷലബ്ധിയിലേക്കുള്ള ആഗ്രഹം, ഉത്പത്തി പ്രകരണം – സൃഷ്ടിയുടെയും മായയുടെയും സ്വഭാവം, സ്ഥിതി പ്രകരണം– ജീവന്റെ നിലനില്പ്, ഉപശമ പ്രകരണം – മനസ്സിന്റെ ശാന്തിയും ബോധോദയവും, നിർവാണ പ്രകരണം – ആത്മജ്ഞാനത്തിലൂടെ മോക്ഷസിദ്ധി, ചൂഡാലോപാഖ്യാനം – ജ്ഞാനമാർഗ്ഗത്തിലെ പ്രതീകകഥ, ലീലോപാഖ്യാനം – മായയുടെ പ്രതീകം, സമാപനം – ബ്രഹ്മസാക്ഷാത്കാരത്തിന്റെ വിവരണം എന്നീ അധ്യായങ്ങളിലായി വിഷയം അവതരിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
