Through this post we are releasing the scan of  Die Thomas Christen  written by  P. Placid J. Podipara in German Language,  published in the year 1966.

St. Thomas Christians, also known as Nasranis or Syrian Christians of India, are one of the oldest Christian communities in the world. They trace their origins to St. Thomas the Apostle, who is believed to have arrived in Kerala, India, in 52 AD to spread Christianity.

This book deals with the subjects regarding the origin and early history, The church, Hierarchical relations, Organization and Constitution, Faith and Commission, Alliance with Portuguese, The Portuguese and Latin Regime and the non Catholic Thomas Christians.

1949 ൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച, പ്ലാസിഡ് പൊടിപാറ രചിച്ച മാർത്തോമ്മാശ്ലീഹയും പാലയൂർ പള്ളിയും എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തിൻ്റെ രണ്ടാം പതിപ്പിൻ്റെ  സ്കാൻ ആണ് ഈ പോസ്റ്റിലൂടെ പങ്കു വെക്കുന്നത്.

പാലയൂരിനെ കേന്ദ്രമാക്കിക്കൊണ്ട് തോമാശ്ലീഹയുടെ പ്രേഷിതപ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളെ സാധൂകരിക്കുന്ന ചരിത്ര സ്മാരക വസ്തുതകളിലേക്ക് വെളിച്ചം വീശുന്ന കൃതിയാണ് ഇത്. പാലയൂർ പള്ളിയും, മാർതോമ്മാ നസ്രാണികളുടെ (സുറിയാനി ക്രിസ്ത്യാനികൾ) ചരിത്രവും കൃതിയിൽ വിശദമായി പ്രതിപാദിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. റമ്പാൻ പാട്ടു പോലെയുള്ള ചില പാട്ടുകളിൽ സുന്ദരമായൊരു സ്ലീബാ മാർതോമ്മാ പാലയൂരിൽ സ്ഥാപിച്ചതായി പറയുന്നതിനാൽ പാലയൂർ പള്ളിയുടെ ആരംഭം അതായിരിക്കാമെന്ന് അനുമാനിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.

ഇതേ പുസ്തകത്തിൻ്റെ പരിഷ്കരിച്ച മൂന്നാം പതിപ്പ് 2023 ഡിസംബർ 14 നു് റിലീസ് ചെയ്തിരുന്നു.

Through this post we are releasing the scan of the book titled The Canonical Sources of the Syro Malabar Church written by Placid Podipara published in the year 1986.

This book is a key work in understanding the canonical (legal and ecclesiastical) traditions of the Syro-Malabar Church. It Explores the historical foundations of the Church’s canon law, which is influenced by East Syriac (Chaldean) traditions.It also discusses The Synods of Diamper (1599), a major event when Latin (Roman Catholic) authority tried to standardize and Latinize the practices of the Thomas Christians. This book mentions about the Indigenous traditions of pre-Portuguese times, heavily linked to East Syrian Christian traditions and  Acts of early local councils and customary law among the Saint Thomas Christians. It also Analyzes how the Syro-Malabar Church developed its distinct canon law, blending East Syriac roots with Roman codifications (especially after the Latin interventions post-16th century).

Through this post we are releasing the scan of the leaflet titled  Latin Rite Christians of Malabar written by Placid Podipara published in the year 1986.

In the Malabar region (essentially Kerala), there are Christians who follow the Latin Rite (introduced mainly by Portuguese missionaries starting in the 16th century) alongside the older, East Syriac tradition (Syro-Malabar). The Latin Rite Catholics form a separate community, with their own dioceses and traditions distinct from the Syro-Malabar Church. His focus was mostly on preserving the original East Syriac identity of the Syro-Malabar Church rather than promoting Latin customs. In fact, he lamented the Latinization and wanted the Syro-Malabar Church to rediscover and maintain its Oriental (Eastern) traditions, including the liturgy, theology, and church governance. This study contains also a review of the historical documents and everyday life of the different communities Malabar from the basis of his study.
