In response to a review appeared in the ChristianOrient, an international theological quarterly, published from Paurastya Vidyapitham and St. Thomas Apostolic Seminary for promoting creative eastern theological thinking. the Authors are clarifying Cardinal Parecattil and his visions about the subject of Syro Malabar Liturgical renewal and vindicating his position.

This book is written with an attempt to explain the salient features of the latest directives from the Oriental Congregation. The complete text of directives and some important historical data are given in the appendix.
1935 മുതൽ `1951 വരെയുള്ള കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ S H League, പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച കത്തോലിക്കാ കുടുംബം എന്ന ചെറുമാസികയുടെ ചില ലക്കങ്ങളുടെ സ്കാൻ ആണ് ഈ പോസ്റ്റിലൂടെ പങ്കു വെക്കുന്നത്.

1920 October 15 ന് St.Joseph Pontifical Seminary, Mamgalapuzha, Alwaye യുടെ കീഴിൽ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന S H League എന്ന സംഘടനയുടെ പ്രസാധകർ എല്ലാ മാസത്തിലും പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്ന ചെറുമാസികയാണു കത്തോലിക്കാ കുടുംബം. ഇതിനു നേതൃത്വം വഹിച്ചിരുന്നത് Fr.Zacharias ( OCD, Azealous Carmalite Missionary from Spain) ആണ്. മലയാളത്തിൽ നല്ല പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണങ്ങൾ, ചെറുകഥകളിലൂടെയും വിശുദ്ധരുടെ ജീവിതങ്ങളിലൂടെയും മാസികയുടെ രൂപത്തിൽ എളുപ്പത്തിൽ ലഭ്യമക്കുന്നതിനു വേണ്ടിഅവർ തുടങ്ങി വച്ച സംരംഭമാമാണ് ഈ മാസികയുടെ തുടക്കത്തിനു നിദാനമായിട്ടുള്ളത്.
1969 ൽ പ്ലാസിഡച്ചൻ്റെ എഴുപതാം വയസ്സും നവജീവപരിഷത്ത്, പാലായുടെ ഏഴാം വയസ്സും തികയുന്ന അവസരത്തിൽ നവജീവപരിഷത്ത് പുറത്തിറക്കിയ നസ്രാണി – പ്ലാസിഡ് സപ്തതി സ്മരണികയുടെ സ്കാൻ ആണ് ഈ പോസ്റ്റിലൂടെ പങ്കു വെക്കുന്നത്.

The Author tries to bridge the gap between those who disregard all traditions and those who adamantly stick to the tradition in the name of tradition. The first part of this document refers to some of the old lectionaries of the East Syrian tradition and those of the Syro Malabar Church. In the second part the author suggests some basic principles to be adhered to in the preparation of the lectionaries. The author observes the Chaldeans Liturgy should not simply be celebrated in Malabar as do the Chaldeans, but should find expressions meaningful to the genius of the faithful in Malabar.

The Author was the Rector of Dharmaram College, Bangalore (1975-78) and President of Dharmaram Pontifical Institute of Theology and Philosophy, Bangalore (1976-78). He has a Doctorate in Church History from Gregorian University, Rome. This book focuses on the major changes which took place in the East Syrian liturgy in the course of its development from the second/third to the seventh century. The awareness of these changes provide us with those lessons that are required for an earnest effort in the direction of liturgical reform quite appropriate to India with its rich cultural heritage and its modern outlook and present day needs.
