1921-ൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച,  ചുനക്കര ഉണ്ണികൃഷ്ണവാരിയർ സംസ്കൃതത്തിൽ നിന്നും മലയാളത്തിലേക്ക് തർജ്ജമ ചെയ്ത ഭാരതചമ്പു എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തിൻ്റെ ഡിജിറ്റൽ സ്കാൻ ആണ് ഈ പോസ്റ്റിലൂടെ പങ്കു വെക്കുന്നത്.

ഭാരതചമ്പു എന്നത് ചമ്പുകാവ്യശൈലിയിൽ എഴുതപ്പെട്ട ഒരു മഹത്തായ സാഹിത്യകൃതിയാണ്. ഇത് ഭാരതത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രശസ്തമായ ഇതിഹാസങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നായ മഹാഭാരതം അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കി എഴുതപ്പെട്ടതാണ്. ചമ്പുകാവ്യം എന്നത് പദ്യവും ഗദ്യവും കൂട്ടിയുള്ള ഒരു കാവ്യശൈലിയാണ്. ഇതിൽ കഥയുടെ ഭാഗങ്ങൾ ഗദ്യരൂപത്തിലാണ് പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നത്, എന്നാൽ പ്രത്യേക സന്ദർഭങ്ങൾക്കും അനുഭവങ്ങൾക്കും പദ്യങ്ങൾ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു. പദ്യങ്ങൾ പലവക സംസ്കൃത metres (ഛന്ദസ്സുകൾ) ഉപയോഗിച്ച് എഴുതുന്നു. അനന്തഭട്ടൻ എന്ന സ്മാർത്ത ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ ആണ് “ഭാരതചമ്പു”യുടെ കർത്താവായി കരുതപ്പെടുന്നത്. അദ്ദേഹം മലയാളത്തിലും സംസ്കൃതത്തിലും ഏറെ പ്രാവീണ്യമുള്ളവനായിരുന്നു. ഈ കൃതി സാംസ്കാരികമായി വലിയ പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ളതും, സംസ്കൃത-മലയാള സാഹിത്യത്തിന്റെ ഏകീകരണത്തിന്റെ ഉദാഹരണവുമാണ്. കാവ്യസൗന്ദര്യം, സംഗീതാത്മകത, ലാളിത്യഗദ്യങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ ചേർത്ത് കഥയെ ആകർഷകമാക്കി അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
