1926 – ൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച കണ്ണമ്പ്ര കുഞ്ഞുണ്ണിനായർ  രചിച്ച  പ്രതാപസിംഹൻ  എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തിൻ്റെ സ്കാൻ ആണ് ഈ പോസ്റ്റിലൂടെ പങ്കു  വെക്കുന്നത്.

മതം, സാഹിത്യം, രാഷ്ട്രീയം, സാമൂഹിക ധാർമ്മികത എന്നിവയിൽ ഇന്ത്യയ്ക്ക് ഒരുകാലത്ത് സമാനതകളില്ലാത്ത മഹത്വം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുവെന്നും എന്നാൽ പ്രക്ഷുബ്ധതയിലൂടെയും നിർഭാഗ്യത്തിലൂടെയും അത് നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടുവെന്നും കെ. കുഞ്ഞുണ്ണി നായർ പ്രതാപസിംഹന്റെ ആമുഖത്തിൽ വാദിക്കുന്നു. ഇപ്പോൾ ഒരു സാംസ്കാരിക പുനരുജ്ജീവനം ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത് അദ്ദേഹം കാണുകയും ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിന്റെ ഉയർച്ചയുമായി അതിനെ താരതമ്യം ചെയ്യുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് ജനതയ്ക്ക് അവരുടെ നായകന്മാരോടുള്ള ആദരവും സദ്‌ഗുണത്തെയും വീര്യത്തെയും മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന ചരിത്ര കേന്ദ്രീകൃത സാഹിത്യവുമാണ് ഇതിന് കാരണമെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം ആരോപിക്കുന്നു. താരതമ്യപ്പെടുത്തുമ്പോൾ, ദേശീയ അഭിമാനം പുനരുജ്ജീവിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിന് ഇന്ത്യൻ നായകന്മാരുടെ ജീവചരിത്രങ്ങൾ മാതൃഭാഷകളിൽ എഴുതുകയും ജനപ്രിയമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്റെ ആവശ്യകത അദ്ദേഹം ഊന്നിപ്പറയുന്നു. പ്രതാപസിംഹനെ നീതിമാനും, സമർപ്പിതനും, ദേശസ്‌നേഹിയും, ആത്മത്യാഗിയുമായ ഒരു ഉത്തമ ഇന്ത്യൻ നായകനായി നായർ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു, പൃഥ്വിരാജിന്റെ കത്തും ഖഖാന്റെ കവിതയും പദ്യത്തിലേക്ക് വിവർത്തനം ചെയ്തതിന് കുറ്റിപ്പുറത്തു കേശവൻ നായരോടുള്ള നന്ദിയോടെ അദ്ദേഹം ഉപസംഹരിക്കുന്നു.

Through this post we are releasing the scan of Trivandrum Maharaja’s College of Science Magazine- Vol. V October Issue 01   published in the year 1928.

Trivandrum Maharaja’s College of Science Magazine, Vol. V, October Issue 01 (1928)—is a historical archival document from the institution now known as University College, Thiruvananthapuram. At that time, the college had recently undergone a significant restructuring (splitting into separate Science and Arts colleges in 1924), making this magazine a record of the early years of the dedicated “College of Science.”
​In 1924, the original Maharaja’s College was bifurcated into the Maharaja’s College of Science (remaining at the original campus) and the Maharaja’s College of Arts (moved to Thycaud).
The 1928 magazine would have been published during the tenure of Mr. James Pryde, who served as Principal from 1927 to 1930. The magazine often reflected the administrative and academic tone set by the principal. It includes English,malyalam poetry and prose written by students and teachers.

Amid reforms in industry, infrastructure, social policy post-Temple Entry (1936), and World War II measures, discussions focused on budgets for education and public works, legislative amendments like 1940 freedom of speech guarantees, economic development, land revenue, tenancy, public services, and war contributions. This primary source illuminates pre-Independence governance in Travancore, now part of Kerala.​

Through this post, we are releasing the digital scan of Report Of The Education Survey Committee Cochin State published in the year 1934.

The 1933 Education Survey Committee of Cochin State was formed to review and act upon the Educational Survey Report. The committee held numerous meetings, conducted surprise school visits, and gathered responses from various stakeholders to assess the state of education. It examined topics such as educational expenditure, management of schools, and the roles of government and private institutions. The committee found that while educational spending had increased markedly, it was approaching financial limits relative to state revenues. Private aided schools, supported by government grants, made up a significant part of the system, but there was also strong public demand for more government-managed (Sirkar) schools. The committee recognized the enthusiasm and value of aided schools but noted financial and administrative challenges in converting all private schools to government control. The report stressed the need for balanced growth, financial prudence, and improved administration to enhance educational efficiency and access in Cochin State.

1945-ൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച, ചങ്ങമ്പുഴ കൃഷ്ണപിള്ള എഴുതിയ രമണൻ എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തിൻ്റെ ഡിജിറ്റൽ സ്കാൻ ആണ് ഈ പോസ്റ്റിലൂടെ പങ്കു വെക്കുന്നത്.

ചങ്ങമ്പുഴ കൃഷ്ണപിള്ളയുടെ 1936-ൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച മലയാള കാവ്യമാണ് രമണൻ. ഇത് മലയാള സാഹിത്യത്തിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ ആരണ്യക നാടകീയ വിലാപകാവ്യമായി അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. രമണൻ എന്ന യുവാവും ചന്ദ്രിക എന്ന പ്രഭുവിൻ്റെ മകളും തമ്മിലുള്ള പ്രണയം സാമൂഹിക തടസ്സങ്ങൾ മറികടക്കാൻ പരാജയപ്പെടുന്നതാണ് കാവ്യത്തിൻ്റെ പ്രമേയം. അത് സാമൂഹിക-സാമ്പത്തിക അസമത്വങ്ങളെ ചിത്രീകരിക്കുന്നു. അവസാനം രമണൻ ആത്മഹത്യ ചെയ്യുന്നു. ചങ്ങമ്പുഴയുടെ ഉറ്റസുഹൃത്ത് ഇടപ്പള്ളി രാഘവൻ പിള്ളയുടെ 1936-ലെ ആത്മഹത്യയാണ് ഈ കാവ്യത്തിന് പ്രചോദനമായത്. പ്രണയപരാജയവും സാമ്പത്തിക ദുരിതവും അതിൻ്റെ കാരണങ്ങളായിരുന്നു. മലയാളികളുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ വളരെയധികം സ്ഥാനം നേടിയ കാവ്യം, സാക്ഷരർരും നിരക്ഷരർക്കുമിടയിൽ ഒരു പോലെ വ്യാപക സ്വാധീനം ചെലുത്തി. പലരും മക്കൾക്ക് ‘രമണൻ’ എന്ന പേര് നൽകി. 15-ാം പതിപ്പ് വരെ എത്തിയ ഈ കൃതി മലയാള കവിതയുടെ ആസ്വാദനരീതിയെ മാറ്റിമറിച്ചു എന്നു തന്നെ പറയാം.

ഇരുപതാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിൻ്റെ മധ്യത്തിൽ മലയാള നാടകവേദിക്കും സംഗീതനാടക പാരമ്പര്യത്തിനും ഗണ്യമായ സംഭാവന നൽകിയ ഈ നാടകം സാഹിത്യ മൂല്യവും സംഗീത ഉള്ളടക്കവും കൊണ്ട് ശ്രദ്ധേയമാണ് ഒന്നാണ്.മലയാളത്തിലെ ആദ്യ സംഗീതനാടകമാണിത്, തമിഴ് നാടകകഥ ഉപജീവിച്ച് ശാസ്ത്രീയഗാനങ്ങൾ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തി രചിച്ചതാണ്. തമിഴ് സംഗീതനാടകങ്ങളുടെ കേരളപ്രചാരത്തിനു പ്രതികരണമായി ഉണ്ടായ ഈ കൃതി നാടകീയമായ ഘടകങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ടും സംഗീത മികവ് കൊണ്ടും കാണികളുടെ ഹൃദയം കീഴടക്കി എന്നു തന്നെ പറയാം.

മൈസൂർ, ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് സൈന്യങ്ങൾക്കെതിരെ നിരവധി ധീരമായ യുദ്ധങ്ങൾക്ക് നേതൃത്വം നൽകി വൈദേശിക ആധിപത്യത്തെ ചെറുത്തുനിന്ന വീരപുരുഷനായി കേരള വർമ്മ പഴശ്ശിരാജ ഓർമ്മിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. കൊളോണിയൽ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ചരിത്രകാരന്മാരുടെ ചരിത്രരേഖകൾ പരിമിതവും അൽപ്പം പക്ഷപാതപരവുമാണെങ്കിലും, അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻ്റെ എതിരാളികൾ പോലും അദ്ദേഹത്തെ വളരെയധികം ബഹുമാനിച്ചിരുന്നുവെന്ന് കത്തുകളിൽ നിന്നും ഡയറികളിൽ നിന്നും വ്യക്തമാണ്. വാമൊഴിയായി സംരക്ഷിച്ച വീരകഥകൾ രേഖപ്പെടുത്താനുള്ള കഴിവില്ലെങ്കിലും, വിദേശ ആക്രമണകാരികൾക്കെതിരായ ഗറില്ലാ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ പഴശ്ശിരാജയുടെ ധീരതയും നേതൃത്വവും ഐതിഹാസികമാണ്.

കേരളത്തിൻ്റെ പരമാധികാരം സംരക്ഷിക്കാൻ ലക്ഷ്യമിട്ടുള്ള ഒന്നിലധികം യുദ്ധങ്ങളിൽ ഏർപ്പെട്ട അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻ്റെ ചെറുത്തുനിൽപ്പ് കഠിനവും തന്ത്രപരവുമായിരുന്നു. വരും തലമുറകൾ ഇന്ന് അനുഭവിക്കുന്ന സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിനായി പഴശ്ശിരാജയും അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻ്റെ ആളുകളും ത്യാഗം സഹിച്ചു.  അവസാന ശ്വാസം വരെ തൻ്റെ മാതൃരാജ്യത്തിൻ്റെ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിനായി വഴങ്ങാത്ത പോരാട്ടം ഈ പുസ്തകം എടുത്തുകാണിക്കുന്നു . സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിൻ്റെയും ദേശസ്‌നേഹത്തിൻ്റെയും യഥാർത്ഥ വില മനസ്സിലാക്കാൻ കുട്ടികളും പഠിതാക്കളും ഈ ധീര യോദ്ധാക്കളുടെ ചരിത്രം പഠിക്കുകയും മനസ്സിലാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടത് അത്യാവശ്യമാണ്.
