Through this post we are releasing the scan of Cardinal Parecattils Book on Liturgy written by Jose Kuriedath, Mathias Mundadan and Antony Narikulam, edited by Thomas Chakiath and published in the year 1987.
Cardinal Joseph Parekkattil inspired by the Vatican II and the recent Popes, had demonstrated genuine courage in introducing healthy and legitimate changes in every sphere of the life of the Church. His efforts to follow the directives of the Council regarding the liturgical reforms of the Syro Malabar Church was met with opposition from the coterie, who perhaps for their love for everything old, wanted to restore the pristine purity of the Chaldean liturgy which was brought to India sometimes around 5th Century. Cardinal Parekkattil stood in the forefront of those who firmly believed that timely changes should be made in the liturgy on the basis of sound historical facts and the teaching of Vatican II in order to give expression to the wishes and aspirations of the Church leaders and the people of God all over the world.
