This book is a key work in understanding the canonical (legal and ecclesiastical) traditions of the Syro-Malabar Church. It Explores the historical foundations of the Church’s canon law, which is influenced by East Syriac (Chaldean) traditions. It also discusses The Synods of Diamper (1599), a major event when Latin (Roman Catholic) authority tried to standardize and Latinize the practices of the Thomas Christians. This book mentions about the Indigenous traditions of pre-Portuguese times, heavily linked to East Syrian Christian traditions and  Acts of early local councils and customary law among the Saint Thomas Christians. It also Analyzes how the Syro-Malabar Church developed its distinct canon law, blending East Syriac roots with Roman codifications (especially after the Latin interventions post-16th century).
