Abstract
Travancore-Cochin's 1955–1956 administration navigated intense political turmoil—from the Praja Socialist Party's collapse, Panampilly Govinda Menon's brief Congress tenure, to President's Rule—while enacting reforms in tenant rights, irrigation, public health, and land surveys. Linguistic movements reshaped the state, ceding Tamil southern taluks to Madras, merging Malabar and Kasaragod. This resulted in Kerala's formation on November 1, 1956, with the Rajpramukh's office abolished and replaced by a Governor.
