How collaboration works

Granthappura collaborates with libraries, archives, educational institutions, researchers, authors, collectors, and volunteers to preserve Kerala’s documentary heritage through digitization and open public access.

Collaboration may include:

  • Digitization of archival materials
  • Public access through the Granthappura platform
  • Metadata creation and cataloguing
  • OCR and text generation
  • Digital preservation
  • Technical guidance (strictly not for commercial or private digization efforts)
  • Volunteer participation in indexing, proofreading, and metadata enhancement

The ownership and physical custody of original materials remain with the respective institutions or individuals unless agreed otherwise. Copyright status and permissions are carefully reviewed before public release. Wherever legally possible, digitized materials are made accessible to the public through an open-access model.

Granthappura follows archival-quality digitization and long-term preservation practices to ensure responsible access to historical knowledge.

Become a Collaborator

Across Kerala and beyond, countless books, magazines, manuscripts, photographs, and personal archives remain hidden in shelves, cupboards, libraries, and private collections — many of them slowly deteriorating with time.

Granthappura believes that preserving this documentary heritage is a shared cultural responsibility. Every collaboration, whether from a major institution or an individual collector, helps protect valuable historical knowledge for future generations.

We welcome collaborations from:

  • libraries and archives
  • educational institutions
  • authors and publishers
  • collectors and families preserving old materials
  • researchers, volunteers, and well-wishers.

If you have materials that deserve preservation, or if your institution wishes to collaborate in digitization and archival initiatives, we would be happy to hear from you. Please email at: [email protected]
