Trivandrum Maharaja’s College of Science Magazine, Vol. V, October Issue 01 (1928)—is a historical archival document from the institution now known as University College, Thiruvananthapuram. At that time, the college had recently undergone a significant restructuring (splitting into separate Science and Arts colleges in 1924), making this magazine a record of the early years of the dedicated “College of Science.”
In 1924, the original Maharaja’s College was bifurcated into the Maharaja’s College of Science (remaining at the original campus) and the Maharaja’s College of Arts (moved to Thycaud).
The 1928 magazine would have been published during the tenure of Mr. James Pryde, who served as Principal from 1927 to 1930. The magazine often reflected the administrative and academic tone set by the principal. It includes English, malyalam poetry and prose written by students and teachers.
