In 1924, the original Maharaja’s College was bifurcated into the Maharaja’s College of Science (remaining at the original campus) and the Maharaja’s College of Arts (moved to Thycaud). These separate science and arts colleges were later amalgamated again in 1942 into a single institution, which became known as University College, Thiruvananthapuram
