'Jnanakeerthanangal' is a collection of Christian devotional hymns compiled and published by M. Mathan Kathanar in 1879. Printed at the Syrian College Press, Kottayam, the work represents an important period in the development of indigenous Christian hymnody in Malayalam. Its contents consist primarily of songs used in Christian worship and devotion. The collection includes a significant number of hymns composed by Vidwan Kuttiyachan and preserves several songs that are no longer in common use today. As such, the volume serves as a valuable source for the study of nineteenth-century Malayalam Christian musical and literary traditions. From a paleographic perspective, the book is notable for its extensive use of traditional Malayalam numerals and for reflecting an earlier orthographic style that predates the widespread adoption of the chandrakkala sign in printed Malayalam texts.
