1928 – The Song of Ramban – H. Hosten<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The “Song of Thomas Ramban,” also known as “Ramban Pattu,” is a traditional Malayalam ballad that narrates the missionary journey of St. Thomas the Apostle in India. It details his arrival at Cranganore (Kodungallur), the establishment of seven churches, the miracles he performed, and his eventual martyrdom in Mylapore (modern-day Chennai). The song holds significant cultural importance among the Saint Thomas Christian community in Kerala.<\/p>\n

Henri Hosten, a Jesuit historian, published “The Song of Thomas Ramban” in Darjeeling, which included a translation by T. K. Joseph and a discussion of the manuscripts. This work provided valuable insights into the traditions surrounding St. Thomas in India.”Song of Thomas Ramban” has been republished in various works, including George Menachery’s “Indian Church History Classics.<\/p>\n
