Through this post we are releasing the scan of The Syrian Carmalite Congregation of Malabar <\/strong>published in the year 1953.<\/p>\n

The Carmelite congregation, with a humble beginning in the last Century now spread all over Malabar, was founded by Father Thomas Palakkal and\u00a0 Thomas Porukara\u00a0 the model priests of virtue and learning.\u00a0 in 1831, they put up a house on a small hill at Mannanam near Kottayam .\u00a0 After their death, Fr. Cyriac Elias (Chavara Achan) became the head of the Institution. Under the patronage of Fr. Cyriac Elias\u00a0 new houses sprang up in different parts of Malabar. This book contains the history of the Carmelite Congregation, the detail of Priors Generals,\u00a0 Geographical detail of Houses of the Priors, Bishop Houses, Different Institutions, the names and duration of the Authorities who served these institutions from time to time.<\/p>\n
