Through this post we are releasing the scan of The Cochin Civil List<\/strong> \u00a0<\/strong>published in the year 1938\"\"1938 – The Cochin Civil List<\/span><\/p>\n

This publication is an official government record published by the erstwhile State of Cochin detailing the stucture and personnel of its civil administration as of 1st Chingam 1114 in the Malayalam Era(August 1938). It records details such as names of government officials, their designations, departments, possibly their salaries and appointments. It also contains lists of land revenue, law, police, education, public works and health. The Civil List served as a comprehensive reference for the organization and functioning of the Cochin State Government during the late pre-independence period<\/p>\n

The document is historically valuable because it gives a snapshot of the administrative machinery of the Cochin state at that time, who held what office, how the bureaucracy was organised, how the state was being managed under the princely arrangement.<\/p>\n
